Life is that way a solitary journey

Trudging along..Life is that way a solitary journey - you meet co-travellers on the way, some come with you for a small distance, some for a longer distance, some come for a much larger distance. Impact of some is very minimal (even if they travel for a much large distance), impact of some is ok, neither here nor there, but with some the impact is quite heavy( even if the togetherness is only for a small distance/time).

Life is like a train journey actually - you do not have control over your compartment, who your neighbours are, your end-station ( means your birth, family in which you are born, your death).

But you have control or choice of how you want to travel between your start and end of the journey - in between the 2 pages written out for you.

You can enjoy the scenery as the train passes through, you can go on top birth and enjoy some sleep, you can curl up and get lost in some interesting book, you can chit-chat and enjoy talks with the co-passengers, you can keep looking out for eating new, new things coming up, you can listen to some nice music, you can just wait for arguments cropping up between any travellers on any subject, enjoying the arguments or even taking sides, poking your nose where it is none of your business, you can incite people for no reason and enjoy the outcome. You can meditate and go into a state of bliss and get away from the Maya-World etc, etc.. There is no end to the possibilities and choices . You can even enjoy a balanced life of having everything in small doses ...

So life is not only destiny , there are choices also. The situation you are in as per Karma is your destiny, but how you take it - is in your hand - that is you can react or respond positively to make the best of the situation

DataCenter Build from Start to Finish

I was engaged in building couple of DC's, I tried my best to build the best keeping TIA 942 standard as based, all had two network path, two power supply from different sources, 2+1 redundant cooling system, fire rated the whole setup for 2 hours. used Novac as the fire extinguishing system , best in the world, the network had 128 gigabit back bone, more than you will need, state of the art Juniper networking equipment were used. SAP on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with XEN Virtualisation

We have SAP running on SUSE on XEN virtualization for 8 years without any glitch. We have to keep in mind the this was the early stages of virtualization we had to take great care as SAP was expensive tool and if the base virtualization fails, then my and organizations reputation was at stake.

To make things complicated the existing Microsoft Dynamic ERP was to be migrated to new SAP.

The race was between VMware, KVM and XEN

How SUSE XEN won the race. First SAP was supporting SUSE platform and SUSE was supporting XEN, so the entire platform was being supported

KVM lost because at the point of time we did not get any support next competitor was VMware, the client was very particular on costing and ease of expansion in the latter.

VMware proposal was, it provided limited VMs and over every VM there would be license cost and again a lock on a number of core and memory usage, this was a bottleneck if the organization was to expand, it will have to yield to VMware's demand, So the client asked for alternative and best alternative was XEN no limitation on VMs and Memory usage, and CPU core was also not a limitation.

We did not stop at these findings, we wanted to test XEN failover and VMware failover, both did a prototype for testing.

VMware cluster failover and Vmotion was seen with system not available to users during the fail-over around 5 minutes. Which was a bit concerning to all of us. Otherwise the failover happened and the other system came up successfully.

SUSE XEN was also put to test on the same test hardware, the flavor was almost pretty smooth we did not notice and noticeable non-availability to users. Only issues was we had do all in command line.

Both were demonstrated to client, client decided on XEN based on cost, support and performance test results.

One highlight of VMware had pretty user friendly Admin GUI interface, which SUSE XEN lacked, but the client was in the view that command line interface is better as people who are not experts will not touch the servers.

At that point of time VMware also was new to bare-metal implementation, were XEN score well over VMware. But today XEN is nowhere to be seen, VMware is seen as the king of virtualization and KVM also has better market after many companies have started supporting it development.

The SAP Architecture we used was Three Tire model, we have two physical servers and 4 VMs, for Production, Application, Database and Sandbox

I had a team of Basis and Abap developers and everyone worked in sync for this project. One of the major problems was backing up the VM, so to take snapshots , we had to allocate huge space in storage for the same, regular backup from DB2 database, DB2 was used as the client wanted to reduce costs further.

Machines will become our most reliable friends, advisors, and caretakers, We will be living in symbiosis with AI, We will reach immortality by keeping out mind alive in the cloud, Humans may not have to work anymore, We will have to rethink the value and purpose of the human mind and body.

With Industry 4.0 in, the factories are seeing incresing usage of IoT and AI, The most of the process will be handled by AI, leading industry ERP application makes like Oracle, SAP etc. Have rolled out AI functionality, it can manage right from raw material procurement to delivery of the products to clients all on its own, you just need some rules set as per your business needs, paving way for future ultra efficient manufacturing units.

FARMING

The AI takes over farming practices, it will read the sensors that will tell how much nutrients and moisture is needed for a particular plantation, it can talk to the AI, weather system and decided what would be the best time to spray fertilizer, water them, cultivate them. Even the cultivation will be done my machine that is AI driven, harvesting, cleaning, sorting and packing for the market.
